School City of Hammond Virtual Academy partners to deliver rigorous, research-based, and pedagogically sound curriculum in a fully online learning environment. We provide extensive and effective online solutions for all learners, and allows schools and districts to expand and enhance their program offerings. Highly qualified, U.S.-certified online teachers experienced in online instruction connect learning to real-life experiences and offer flexible program implementation and management designed for all virtual learning environments.

Academy Support

Students attending the School City of Hammond Virtual Academy have direct access to both a School City of Hammond Academy leader and guidance counselor. Both are here to help support each individual student set goals, find the best pathway for him/her, and support him/her to complete the coursework and graduate with a high school diploma. 

Academy Teachers

The School City of Hammond Virtual Academy collaborates with a team of highly qualified credentialed teachers who have been trained in online instruction to provide a unique online learning experience. Online Academy teachers:

Respond to student needs via phone calls, text messages, emails or other forms of communications to provide direct instruction and any additional clarification

Respond to all emails, messages, and text messages from the students, parents, or site coordinators

Grade student work by providing feedback and encouragement

Monitor students’ progress and success

Prepare weekly progress report data which includes current grade, end date reminders, recommendations concerning student pace, progress, performance, and remediation as needed

Provide newly enrolled students an overview of help resources

Contact students that haven’t logged into program recently (typically five to seven days or more)
