Annie Burns-Hicks Elementary School
On April 22, 2022 Maywood Elementary was renamed Annie Burns-Hicks Elementary School. The name change is in honor of Mrs. Annie Burns-Hicks,the first black teacher in Hammond. Maywood originally opened in 1926 and moved to the new building in August 1992. Burns-Hicks Elementary serves Head Start to 6th grade students in East/Central Hammond. We are the Bulldogs!
