Computer Information Technology and Networking
Instructor: Enrique Catalan
Students receive instruction in installation, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting computers, laptops, tablets, peripherals, and networks. Topics include the history and trends of computing, operating systems, database technology, security, cloud implementations and other concepts associated with applying the principles of good information management to organization. Students will be introduced to algorithms, logic development and flowcharting as tools used to document logic through the use of basic scripting and simple programming code. Second year students receive instruction in advanced topics such a networking, internet technologies and web development, Linux, and server administration.
First year students take Computer Information Technology and work towards receiving the CompTIA A+ Certification. Returning students focus on Networking while working towards receiving their Cisco CCNA certification.
Length/Credits: 1-2 year program, 6 high school credits per year
Open to: Grades 11 and 12
Eligible Certifications: CompTIA A+ & Cisco CCNA
