This program includes classroom and laboratory experiences that develop a variety of skills in oxy-fuel cutting and basic welding.  Moving on to shielded metal arc welding involving theory and application of the process, including basic electricity, power sources, electrode selection, and aspects pertaining to equipment operation and matinentence.  Gas metal arc welding will include all settings, adjustments and maintenance needed to weld with a wire feed system.  All instruction and hands on experience prepares the student for an American Welding Society certification.
Length/Credits: 1 - 2 year program, 6 high school credits per year
Open to: Grades 11 and 12
Eligible Certifications: American Welding Society (AWS)
