Hammond School and Building Closure Information

3/19 UPDATE: In compliance with the order from Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, all School City of Hammond schools will remain closed until May 1st, 2020.  The Governor indicated that he would re-evaluate that date as the crisis unfolds over the next several weeks.  He also announced state testing will be cancelled for the 19-20 school year.  SCH will continue it's current eLearning plan through 4/3.  Expectations for eLearning for the rest of April will be forthcoming.

Dear SCH Families,
In response to the growing threat of the COVID-19 (Corona Virus), School City of Hammond is proactively closing all buildings and calling eLearning days in an effort to mitigate the impact of the virus on our community.  We value the health and safety of all students and staff and feel that this decision, while difficult, is the best course of action at this time.  Therefore, the schedule for the next 3 weeks will be as follows:
Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 20:  eLearning
Monday, March 23 – Friday, March 27:  Spring Break (No eLearning)
Monday, March 30 – Friday, April 3:  eLearning

ALL BUILDINGS WILL BE CLOSED until May 1st.

Hammond Education Foundation

Every child in Hammond deserves access to a quality public education.

In order to make that vision a reality in the School City of Hammond, a district where a majority of the students are enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program, we must recruit, train, and retain the very best educators. We believe that an empowered teaching force is the lever in addressing the very real gaps affecting our school district and community.  Our investments reflect that belief.
