Assessment Survey (LAS Links testing) – Bilingual Department
Peggy Harrington, Director, along with others associated
with the Bilingual Department, gave a presentation on the language assessment
test that is required under the federal mandate of No Child Left Behind.

Recommendations
of the Superintendent
The Board approved the following recommendations of the
Superintendent on personnel; accounts payable voucher registers; acceptance
of quote of $23,280 from ACM Elevator for elevator maintenance and required
annual state testing; acceptance of donation by Clark Middle/High School
in the amount of $100 from the Knights of Columbus; extra-curricular
purchase of keyboards and supplies at Gavit Middle/High School; acceptance
of donation by Hammond High School in the amount of $144.70 from the
Target “Take Charge of Education” Program; extra-curricular
purchase of sweats and t-shirts at Morton High School; extra-curricular
purchase of softball jerseys, socks, t-shirts, turtlenecks, sweatshirts,
and ear warmers at Morton High School; extra-curricular purchase of
warm-up jackets and pants at Morton High School; extra-curricular purchase
of physical education equipment at Morton High School; extra-curricular
purchase of rolled numbered tickets for athletics at Morton High School;
acceptance of donation by Eggers Middle School in the amount of $500
from Indiana Tobacco Prevention & Cessation; extra-curricular purchase
of gym uniforms at Scott Middle School; extra-curricular purchase for
registration/application with Music in The Parks at Scott Middle School;
acceptance of donation by Scott Middle School in the amount of $27.39
from the Target “Take Charge of Education” Program; extra-curricular
purchase of RAILCATS game tickets at Caldwell Elementary School; acceptance
of donation by Edison Elementary School in the amount of $257.75 from
the Target “Take Charge of Education” Program; acceptance
of donation by Franklin Elementary School in the amount of $84.42 from
the Target “Take Charge of Education” Program; extra-curricular
purchase of tennis uniforms at Morton High School; acceptance of donation
by Harding Elementary School of dictionaries valued at $145 from the
Indiana Chapter of AD & T Pioneers; equipment agreement between
Pepsi Americas and Hess Elementary School for a vending machine at no
cost to the School City of Hammond; acceptance of donation by Lafayette
Elementary School in the amount of $1,000 from the Wal-Mart’s
Trees For Schools contest held from August 19 to October 30, 2006; acceptance
of donation by Lafayette Elementary School in the amount of $61.66 from
the Target “Take Charge of Education” Program; acceptance
of donation by Morton Elementary School in the amount of $228.65 from
the Target “Take Charge of Education” Program; acceptance
of donation by O’Bannon Elementary School in the amount of $158.60
from the Target “Take Charge of Education” Program; acceptance
of donation by Orchard Drive Elementary School in the amount of $179.24
from the Target “Take Charge of Education” Program; extra-curricular
purchase from Scholastic of reading incentives at Wallace Elementary
School; allow City Museum located in St. Louis to temporarily borrow
some of our Terra Cotta pieces by George Elmslie for an exhibit on the
work of The Prairie School of Architects; and that Jefferson Elementary
School apply for three grants through the A+ For Education Agency.

The Resolution
was read and adopted.
