BP 9101 - Special Meetings of the Board of School Trustees

Special meetings of the Board of School Trustees shall be held on call by its president or the Superintendent of Schools. Such call shall be evidenced by a written notice specifying the time and place of the meeting, delivered to each member personally or sent by mail or telegram so that each member has at least seventy-two (72) hours notice except under conditions which the Board president and Superintendent mutually consider to be emergency conditions. The waiver of notice referred to below must be agreed to by the Board immediately after the meeting is convened to establish that the meeting has been called to handle a bona fide emergency. The local news media shall be notified of the meeting at the same time Board members are notified. The President shall call a special meeting when requested to do so by two members of the Board. All special meetings shall be held at a regular meeting place of the Board.

Where a notice of meeting is required and each member of the Board has waived notice thereof as provided below, no such notice shall be necessary. Waiver of notice of any meeting by any member shall consist of the following:

  1. his/her presence at the meeting; and,
  2. his/her execution of a written notice waiving the time and place of the meeting, executed either before or after the meeting. Where, however, such notice is executed after the meeting, such waiver shall also state in general terms the purpose of the meeting. Where a waiver recites that it was executed before the meeting, third persons shall be entitled to rely on such statement.
