Dear Irving Elementary Students and Parents,
Welcome to Washington Irving Elementary School! We are thrilled you will be a part of our learning community. This school year promises to be an exciting one as we focus on our mission to increase student achievement in a caring environment while emphasizing reading, Language Arts and mathematics. We want students and teachers to be engaged and enthusiastic about learning.
The Irving Elementary staff is committed to academic excellence and will implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of our students. We will insure that the climate of our school is conducive to learning while providing a safe, positive, and caring environment where all students feel a sense of belonging. It is our intent to promote student responsibility and self-discipline by modeling expected behaviors and by implementing positive behavioral supports for students.
I am looking forward to your involvement in your child’s education at Irving. One of the best ways to become involved is by joining our PTA. Your involvement in our PTA is very important as they support our students. The Irving staff is committed to working with you as we believe the educational process is a partnership between the home and the school. We count on you to support our many activities throughout the school year.
I am here to serve you and your children. If you have any questions or need assistance with a school matter you may email me (pjparker@hammond.k12.in.us), call me (219-933-2467) or stop by my office. It is a tremendous honor and privilege to be the principal at Irving Elementary. I look forward to working with you this school year.
Respectfully,
Ms. Pat Parker
