Family and Community Involvement

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. Family and Community Involvement is crucial to the success of our students, school and community. We are working to build partnerships and relationships to benefit our children. We cannot be successful without your help. Communication is the foundation of a solid partnership. When parents and educators communicate effectively, positive relationships develop, problems are more easily solved, and students make greater progress.

Using the National Standards for Family Involvement, we can truly make a difference for the students in our school. The standards are:

Communication – Communication between home and school is regular, two-way and meaningful.

Parenting – Parenting skills are promoted and supported.

Student Learning – Parents play an integral role in assisting student learning.

Volunteering – Parents and community members are welcome in the school and your support and assistance is needed and wanted.

Decision Making and Advocacy – Parents are full partners in the decisions that affect children and families.

Collaborating with Community – Community resources are used to strengthen schools, families and student learning.
