Program Information

Welding 1
The Industrial
Maintenance/Welding program provides the opportunity for students to learn a variety of skills. Students learn how to perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (Tig), Oxy-Acetylene welding and cutting, and Plasma and Air arc Cutting Stills.

Classroom work consists of related material, including blueprint reading and introductory metallurgy. Students spend the majority of their time in the shop and progress at their own pace when performing the hands-on-skills.

Wages

High School Diploma with Career Training: $7.00-$13.00/hr
College or Additional Technical Training: $13.00-$26.00/hr

Educational Opportunities

Industrial Maintenance/Welding students may receive dual credit with Ivy Tech Community College

First Semester Activities
August-December 2010

  • The Industrial Maintenance/Welding students are preparing for, and looking forward to the annual welding contest. The contest will be held in April at the Career Center. All the students will compete and one overall winner will be chosen.Welding 3

About the Class
Welding 2Industrial Maintenance/Welding students spend most of their time in the shop learning different welding process. The shop is self-paced and the students learn to use the same kind of equipment as is used in industry.
