Program Information

If you are interested in pursuing a career in law, law enforcement, corrections or a private security profession join the Area Career Center Criminal Justice Academy today.You will discuss and be exposed to the process of a crime scene investigation, evidence gathering, local and federal law enforcement, prosecution and defense strategies, suspect questioning, prison sentencing, and loss prevention in the corporate world.You will learn proper interview techniques and proper documentation. Each class takes several field trips and has several guest instructors who are working professionals in their given fields. In order to enroll you should have a desire to learn, be honest, have good judgment, and a strong sense of integrity and responsibility.

Wages

High School Diploma and Vocational Graduate: $7.00-$15.00/hr
College or Additional Technical Training: $17.00-$28.00/hr

Current member of the Hammond Police Department with 18 years of service. Six years experience processing crime scenes as an evidence technician. Four years experience as a D.A.R.E. instructor. Eight years experience as a detective investigating Burglaries, Property Crimes, Violent crimes, and Homicides. Currently assigned to the Internal Affairs Office as an investigator. Specialties also include Certified Breathalyzer Operator and Hostage Negotiator. President of Hammond Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #51 (Hammond Police Union) 1998 and 1999

Educational Background

Hammond High School 1976-1980. B.S. Organization Management from Calumet College Hammond, Indiana in 2002. Master of Law Enforcement Management from Calumet College Hammond, Indiana in 2005.
