Computer Information Technology (CIT)


Program Information

Your future is bright if you enter the demanding field of Computer Information Technology. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment opportunities are expected to rise faster than the average rate for all occupations. This course features a variety of hands-on, self-paced projects and activities that utilize much of the same equipment the large businesses do.

The first year of the course matches to the objectives of the international, vendor-neutral CompTIA A+ Certification. These objectives include computer assembly, installation, operating systems, wired and wireless networking, common peripherals, maintenance and troubleshooting. In the second year of the program, students can purse curriculums aligned with the CompTIA Linux+, Network+, Server+, and I-Net+ certifications. This program is available in both the AM and PM sessions.

Salary

High School Diploma with Career Training: $25,000-$45,000
College or Additional Technical Training: $35,000 and up

Mr. Miller has worked as a computer technician for a 5,000 machine company and supported networks and servers as well. He has a bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems from Indiana University and many relevant technology certifications.

Mr. Miller believes that every student can learn, and through hard work, they will find success.


About the Class

Students in the class work at their own pace and most every assignment is hands-on. We have all of the latest technology and software including 64-bit CPUs, SLI Video Cards, and RAID and SCSI setups to name a few. You'll learn the curriculum by completing over 600 pages of labs and 1000 pages of theory. Discussions are interesting and take advantage of the latest classroom technology like a Smart Board, LCD Projector, CPS Response Pads, a Document Camera, DVDs and multimedia.
