Year-Long Restoration: Currently, students are working on the ground-up restoration of a 1973 Chevy Nova, and a 1974 Chevy Camaro that is owned by the Area Career Center. This project is being completed as a joint effort from the weld shop, both engine and mechanic classes, and the auto body program. By the end of this school year the class is looking forward to revving the engine and racing the car. The Area Career Center has started a racing club this year. Watch for pictures to follow! Mr. Uhrina went to work as a combination body man and painter for a local dealership in the Chicagoland area. In 1985 Mr. Uhrina started teaching in East Chicago Schools. Mr. Uhrina is the owner and operator of Tef-it Acrylic Aircraft Sealants which specializes in coating aircraft with an acrylic sealant. Mr. Uhrina also has had five books published internationally on Collision and Refinishing. About the Class Collision
and Refinishing Technology is a two-year program that introduces students to entry-level
skills in every facet of Collision repair. These include: panel repair.
refinishing, basic welding, cutting, estimating, frame repair, detailing,
and paintless dent repair. After meeting all the safety requirements necessary
to work in the shop, the students will work at their own pace to ensure
basic skills are learned. |
